Cromwell Street Sprints
Born to Compete
Cromwell Street Sprints is an exhilarating motorsport event that takes place in the picturesque town of Cromwell, nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island. This annual event has become a celebrated tradition, attracting speed enthusiasts and racing aficionados.
History
The roots of Cromwell Street Sprints trace back to 1993, back then the event was run by the Queenstown Car Club and went around McNulty Rd, Rodgers St, Barry Ave, Diog Ln and Butchers Dv. (Click here to see some results, pictures and news articles from the early events)
It took a break until a group of passionate individuals decided to resurrect the event in 2011 transforming the town’s industrial streets into a thrilling racing circuit (and moved to a circuit around Hughes Cresent, Chardonnay Street, Cemetary Road, Connelly Way and Wolter Crescent – see map below). It has grown into a highly anticipated event, showcasing the perfect blend of speed, skill, and community spirit.
Cromwell Street Sprints isn’t just about racing; it’s about community, camaraderie, and a shared love for the art of speed. Our commitment to safety, fun and entertainment, provides an unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators.
The drivers and teams push the limits, navigating the challenging street circuit with precision and adrenaline-pumping speed. The event features a diverse range of categories, from classic cars to high-performance modern machines, ensuring a spectacle for every motorsport enthusiast.
The competition is fierce as drivers vie for supremacy in various classes, showcasing their skills on straights and testing their mettle in tight corners.
